Thank you for posting your birth story. I'm still crying. My friend just had a C-section this week and like you, she had envisioned a very different, natural birth. When she is ready to talk about it, I'm going to send her your story. I know she is probably disappointed that she had a C-section, but it is so important for her to know that she is a beautiful mother who brought a beautiful child into the world. And they are sooo sooo loved!!!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-970723933640114266.post-20884406203986771062011-10-10T10:35:47.956-04:002011-10-10T10:35:47.956-04:00Thanks Jay!

After reading and speaking with a number of people, we weren't comfortable with the risks associated with a vaginal breech delivery. If we were, it would have been difficult, if not impossible, to find a doctor or midwife willing to perform one. But the truth is, that wasn't a direction we wanted to go in. If Evelyn were footlong breech rather than frank breech, we might have felt differently, I'm not sure.

We delivered at St. Peter's in Albany (not Albany Med) which has a brand new (and beautiful) mother/baby floor and a really supportive staff of doctors, midwives, nurses, and lactation consultants.

Can't wait to see you all and meet Eko! We'll definitely be out that way again this fall.Nicolehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12245297960220355931noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-970723933640114266.post-75553120078707858302011-10-09T14:11:45.517-04:002011-10-09T14:11:45.517-04:00Jay here:

Secondly, I should point out that I probably read your story the night you first posted it, but it was a lot to take in and I didn't quite know what to say.

After some reflection I feel bad that your experience didn't offer the support you deserved, but I'm glad you gained control through unforeseen circumstances - GO BANANA!!! We all know breached babies can be more complicated, but I'm saddened that more options weren't exposed for you during your pregnancy. You did great - never think otherwise - and in the end you delivered one beautiful baby girl, but if you ever go through this again I highly encourage you to seek assistance elsewhere - we've been to the Albany hospital and even from our perspective it was not an inviting maturity ward.

So glad we got to see you recently and hope to see you again real soon. We're still lying low, but if you need to change a diaper between the Cape and home, Brattleboro isn't that far out of the way : )Jade and Jayhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01256858071202419720noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-970723933640114266.post-67414214204621798642011-10-03T23:07:45.716-04:002011-10-03T23:07:45.716-04:00This is a beautiful story, beautifully written. I'm proud of your healthy stubbornness, too, in the face of the medical machine. Hooray for the amazing banana of protest that stalled that machine and gave you the blessed time you needed to experience birth!! :) Hugs - JadeJadeCrystalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13720095983878075983noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-970723933640114266.post-51109876335545818732011-09-26T23:54:37.431-04:002011-09-26T23:54:37.431-04:00Beautiful Story! I especially loved your descriptions of driving to the hospital and waiting for the elevator.

It also brought me back to that day and what we were feeling for you.

We were supposed to come out to see you that day. S and I actually joked the night before that we'd have to check with you guys before leaving because maybe the baby would come. HaHaHa...

Then we got a very early morning text from Patrick telling us not to come out "something might be happening". We thought about you guys all morning- wondering how it was going, sending good energy your way.

And then our excitement at hearing baby Evy was born!

Can't believe she's six months old already!Meg@MegaCraftyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13368362538043182559noreply@blogger.com
